One of the best red-purple cabbages. Produces 4 lb. small, round, solid heads. Good wrapper leaves, excellent boiled or pickled. Use fresh in salads. Exceptionally good winter storage. Culture: Sow seeds or transplant from early spring through fall. A late summer or fall planting is recommended in mild winter areas. Plant in a sunny location in soil that is rich in organic matter and kept moist. Soil should be firm around plants. Water regularly and fertilize when 3″ (7.5 cm) tall. Harvesting: Pick when heads become solid, cutting just below the leaves. Matures 60 days from transplant, 76 days from seed. Nutrition: Good source of vitamins A and C.
