Growing dahlias from seed is much less expensive than the cost of roots. Culture: Easy to raise indoors from seed sow 6-8 weeks before weather warms. Set transplants 15″ (37.5 cm) apart or direct sow outdoors in light, well drained, moist loam, with lots of fertilizer. Keep soil surface moist. In late fall tubers can be dug and stored in a cool dry place over winter.
