Blooms all summer long in red, white, and semi-shade. Upright, compact plants are covered with large bright-colored blooms. A splendid choice for borders and containers. Thrives best in rich, well-drained soil. Must have shade in hot summer weather. Tom Thumb can be started indoors in Feb. and transplanted after last frost, or direct sown in April. Balsam impatiens must be kept moist. Very showy in pots. Pinch young plants to promote even growth. Plants must be sheltered from wind. Do not fertilize. Grows best in moist soil that is evenly shaded. Among flowers, this named impatiens is far and away the most generous.
