Highly productive and extensively grown for canning whole, for puree and making tomato paste. Fine if peeled whole for salads. Fruits are intense red, rectangular-shaped, 3½” long and 1½” across, meaty, free from juicy pulp and of very mild flavor. Medium late determinate variety. Culture: For earliest harvest sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost, keeping soil temperature in the mid 70’s. Grow in full sun. Shift hardened transplants to garden shortly after last frost. Water regularly and fertilize when plants are 6″ (15 cm) tall and again in mid-summer. Cage to save space. Harvest: Pick carefully when richly colored & firm, but before fruit begins to soften. Nutrition: Rich in calcium, iron, and vitamins A & C.
