Description: Superior flavor of the famous Blue Lake in plump, 6″ (15 cm) round, dark green, fleshy pods, slow white seed development. Culture: Any good well-drained soil with a pH above 6 will grow beans. Beans do not tolerate cool wet soil. When soil reaches at least 50°F, sow seed 4″ (10 cm) apart, 1″ (2.5 cm) deep in rows 24″ (60 cm) apart. Thinning is not necessary. Successive planting can be made every 3 weeks. Water regularly and fertilize when 3″ (7.5 cm) tall. Harvest: When pods are 6″ (15 cm) and plump. Pick regularly to encourage new pod set. Preserving: Can or freeze. Nutrition: Beans are low in calories, high in fiber, complex carbohydrates and protein.
