Hollyhocks, are old garden favorites. Native to China where it was imported from into Europe during the 15th century. Flowers grow on rigid, towering spikes or spires which typically reach a height of 5’-8’ tall and usually do not require staking. This variety is one of the most popular hollyhocks, ‘Chater’s Double’ was named after the English horticulturist, Chater of Essex, who developed this variety in the 1880’s. Colors include golden-yellow, rose, maroon, salmon-pink, scarlet, and white.
