Delicious winter squash. Deep yellow, fine-grained flesh cooks sweet and dry. Thin, hard, dark green rind, slight ribs, house fruits of 5″-8″ (12.5-20 cm) diameter, weighing 3-5 lbs. Medium keeper, excellent Northern variety. Culture: Requires very rich soil as squash is a voracious feeder. Sow 6-8 seeds in groups (hills) 6′-8′ (180-240 cm) apart. Thin to 2-3 plants per group. Fertilize and water regularly from time of flowering until fruits ripen. Harvest: When yellow spot touching ground turns orange. Nutrition: High in vitamin C.
