A favorite table vegetable grown in home gardens. Heads are white, round and large. Culture: Lime well before planting in moisture retentive soil. Lack of water can cause the plant to deform or produce a smaller head. Can be started indoors and transplanted at six weeks. As heads emerge from plant, bend or tie leaves over the white heads to protect them from the sun. Harvesting: Ready in about 50–60 days from transplant date. Nutrition and Use: High in vitamin C. Break into florets for eating raw, and excellent for pickling.
