Large 3″-4″ (7.5-10 cm.) flowers of a dusky rose-purple are borne on long 2′-3′ (60-90 cm.) stems. They have deep bronze central cones and petals that characteristically droop a little backwards. Plants are drought-resistant, preferring dry soil, but tolerating moist. They are extremely long-flowering, from late spring to fall. Culture: Sow seed in early spring in full sun, or in dappled shade in hot climates. This one of the showiest, toughest, and long-lived of the meadow flowers.
