Lance-Leaf Coreopsis Seeds – Sunburst. The common name for this sunny yellow, toothed tip flower is Tickseed a member of the Aster family. Tickseed comes from the Greek words referencing the shape of the seed which resembles a bug or tick. The plants are true native Americans being natural to the prairies and woodlands of North and Central America and Mexico. This is one of the many plants, named and described, by the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804–1806.
