This lima bean adapts well in southern climates. Very productive under hot and dry conditions. Vigorous bushy 18″–24″ medium dark green plants, good in drought areas. Each pod produces 3–4 nearly round brownish-red lima beans speckled with dark brown, excellent flavor. Culture: Any good well drained soil with a pH above 6 will grow beans. Beans do not tolerate cool wet soil. Direct sow seeds when soil is approximately 50° F. Plant Spring & Fall sowings. Harvest: Maturity 75 days. For fresh beans the pods should be picked when mature and the seeds have swelled, but before the pods turn yellow. For shell beans, after pods turn yellow, harvest whole plant, hang upside down in well ventilated area to dry. Nutrition: Good source of protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, A and C.
