This produces masses of crimson red flowers. Sweetly scented. A little more compact than most Old-Fashioned varieties. Introduced by Henry Eckford in 1905 and named in honor of Queen Alexandria, wife of King Edward VII. Taller and stronger growing than most grandifloras. Culture: Sow seed outdoors in early spring in a sunny location into well drained fertile soil. Prior to sowing, soak seeds overnight to facilitate germination. Provide plenty of water. Mulch roots to keep them cool. They do best in cool weather and in hot climates where there is afternoon shade. Produces long stemmed cut flowers.
