Blooms begin mid-summer from seed sown in early spring. Culture: Sow seed outdoors in early spring in a sunny location into well drained fertile soil. Prior to sowing, soak seeds overnight to facilitate germination. Provide plenty of water. Mulch roots to keep them cool. They climb by tendrils and need to be supported. They do best in cool weather and in hot climates where there is afternoon shade. If aphids appear, spray plants with insecticidal soap every 3-5 days. Mixed colors make delightful bouquets.
