Prior to sowing, soak seeds overnight to facilitate germination. Provide plenty of water. Mulch roots to keep them cool. The vine climbs by tendrils and need to be supported. A wire fence works well. They do best in cool weather and in hot climates where there is afternoon shade. If aphids appear, spray plants with insecticide soap every 3-5 days. Produces long stemmed cut flowers.
