Sweet Peas are one of the most fragrant annuals. Cuthbertson has a wide range of colors. Sweetly scented, crisp flowers bloom on long stems growing on a vine. Blooms begin mid summer from seed sown early spring. Culture: Sow seed outdoors in early spring in a sunny location into well drained fertile soil. Prior to sowing, soak seeds overnight to facilitate germination. Provide plenty of water. Mulch roots to keep them cool. The vine climbs by tendrils and need to be supported. A wire fence works well. They do best in cool weather and in hot climates where there is afternoon shade. If aphids appear, spray plants with insecticide soap every 3-5 days. Produces long stemmed cut flowers.
