Common Thyme is a much-branching subshrub with woody stems; numerous small, pointed, strong clove like aroma, medium green leaves; and lilac summer flowers. Uses: Thyme is excellent fresh or dry. It is ideal to flavor chowders, sauces, seafood dishes, slow-cooking stews and soups. As a spice, vinegar and oils can be made from the dried leaves. Habitat: Light, well-drained soil, sun.
