Growing on vines, ground cherries are encased by a paper lantern shaped husk. While related to tomatillos, they are frequently smaller and sweeter with husks that do not split open. The ripest, are deep golden (and sweetest) have husks that are fully dry and no longer green.
Culture: Add Bone Meal to soil, water well as plants are growing. Vigorous plants for pots and small spaces.
Harvest: Husk tomatoes usually do not ripen fully until after falling from the plant. Ground cherries ripen from green to yellow-gold.
