Also known as the Mexican husk tomato, is a plant of the nightshade family bearing small, spherical and green fruit of the same name. Tomatillos ripen fruit early, and are adapted North and South. Harvest when the fruit is plump and papery husks splits. If the fruits feel like mini marbles inside loose husks, wait awhile, but harvest before they turn pale yellow, as they become seedier and their flavor loses the desired tanginess as they ripen. Flavor is sweet yet tart.
Culture: Add Bone Meal to soil, water well as plants are growing. Vigorous plants for pots and small spaces.
Harvest: Tomatillos need to get pulled from the plants. Most tomatillos ripen from green to yellow-green to pale yellow.
