Attractive shape has made SMR 58, developed by the University of Wisconsin, the standard home garden pickle for many years. Resistant to scab and mosaic. Spines are black, 6½”” (16.25 cm) long and 2½”” (6.25 cm) in diameter. Skin color is medium green.
Culture: Sow in groups (hills) of 6–8 seeds, 4’–6′ (120–180 cm) apart. Thin to 3 plants per group.
Harvest: 53–60 days.
Suggestion: Plant Dill 2–3 weeks earlier for use in making pickles.
