Biennial Heirloom. This gourmet variety has red-purple veins on gray-green, wavy-margined leaves. Cool weather intensifies its color. Slightly heat tolerant and less frost hardy than other kales. This flat and serrated edged kale has a wonderful taste. Culture: Sow early spring, June or July. Soil should not be too rich for hardy plants. Sturdy compact 12″–14″ (30–35 cm) × 20″ (50 cm) plants. Harvesting: 65 days. Leaves are sweet, tender and crunchy especially when harvested after exposure to cool frosty weather.
