To many, this is the finest quality winter squash. Length 8″”-12″” (20-30 cm) and about 3 lbs. Generally cylindrical, with a small seed cavity. Flesh is extremely fine, sweet, yellowish-orange.
Culture: Requires very rich soil, as squash is a voracious feeder. Sow 6-8 seeds in groups (hills) 4′-5′ (120-150 cm) apart. Thin to 2-3 plants per group. Fertilize and water regularly from time of flowering until fruits ripen.
Nutrition: Vitamins A and fiber.
Suggestions: Has a nutty flavor when boiled and mashed.
