A vigorous grower with rich, bright crimson flowers. Of the hundreds of Sweet Peas available at the turn of the century, ‘King Edward’ is one of a few survivors. An annual climbing plant, growing to a height 3 ft–6 ft, where suitable support is available. Culture: Sow seed outdoors in early spring in a sunny location into well drained fertile soil. Prior to sowing, soak seeds overnight to facilitate germination. Provide plenty of water. Mulch roots to keep them cool. They do best in cool weather and in hot climates where there is afternoon shade. Produces long stemmed cut flowers.
