This antique variety has the deepest maroon flowers that grow on rigid, towering spires which can reach a height of 5-8′ tall and usually do not require staking. Foliage is large, heart-shaped leaves which become progressively smaller toward the top of the spire. Biennial or short lived perennial. Culture: In fall, sow seeds in well drained, rich, moist soil, or sow seed indoors. Transplant in early spring when 3” (7.5 cm) high.
